Curveballs

Let's face it, sometimes life throws you a curveball. We have our day, week, month, life, etc. all planned out, and then BAM! Something throws our plans off course. Our Christian walk involves curveballs and trials, and it's all in how we respond.

Curveballs were evident at the 2012 Kentucky Christian Writers Conference--it was almost like the world series! Chonda and David Pierce were thrown curveballs with health issues, forcing them to stay home. The KCWC committee then faced the curveball of replacing the keynote speaker and a popular faculty member. Twila Belk stepped up to the plate, staring down some serious curveballs as she was "called up to the bigs" to fill in as keynote.

I know, I know, ENOUGH BASEBALL METAPHORS! What I'm trying to say is that all of these people handled what life threw at them with grace and patience and a new level of trust in God.

Peter was able to walk on water in the midst of a storm by keeping his eyes on Jesus. When he took his eyes off the Messiah and paid attention to the wind and waves, Peter faltered. When we get caught in circumstances, we, too, will feel like we are sinking. However, if we fix our eyes on Jesus and trust Him with every step, we can accomplish the impossible, even in our writing.

Trust Him today.
